Donte' Jacquan 'DJ' Barnes

You left us peaceful memories, your love is still our guide,

And though we cannot see you, you are always at our side.

Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same,

But as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.

Donte’ Jacquan Barnes, affectionately known as ‘DJ’ & ‘Dutch’ to his loving family and friends, entered this world on Friday, November 20th, 1992, in Halifax County, North Carolina, to the proud parents, Mary Ann Barnes and Donald Deloatch.

Donte’ received his education in the Northampton County Public School System, culminating in his graduation from Northampton County High School East.  A devout believer, he accepted Christ early in life, he was baptized and he became a member of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Margarettsville, North Carolina. In addition, he fellowshipped with the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, Seaboard, North Carolina.

During his career, Donte’ worked at Perdue Farms and Georgia Pacific. Presently, he was employed with Blather Energy in Albuquerque, New Mexico. In his leisure time, Donte’ found joy in various activities, including playing football, rapping, fishing, and most importantly, spending quality time with his family.

On Wednesday, March 13th, 2024, Donte’, departed this earthly life while in Albuquerque, New Mexico. In addition to his loving parents, he is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Bernice Shoulder Barnes, and his paternal grandparents, James Titus Deloatch, Sr. and Gerline Jefferson Deloatch Beauvers.

He leaves behind cherished memories in the hearts of: his beloved children, Armani Dior Williams, Jayden O’Mir Williams, Serenity MiAngel Barnes, Kendrick Amir Washington, and Aubrie Arieyelle Pierce. Also, mourning his passing are his sister, Tracee Barnes of Seaboard, North Carolina; two brothers, Jonus Deloatch of Murfreesboro, North Carolina, and Christopher Deloatch of Miami, Florida; nieces, Quiniece Barnes and Tatyana Barnes; great-niece, Tahlia Deloatch; great-nephew, Khalil Barnes; aunts & uncles, Carrie Barnes, Mamie Banks, Jesse Barnes (Elsie), Terry Barnes, Jerry Barnes, Sam Barnes, John Barnes (Vivian), Perry Barnes, Thomas Barnes, and William Barnes; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

Donte’s vibrant spirit, unwavering love, and treasured memories will forever resonate in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known him. May he rest in eternal peace.
