Geneva Walden Kee, affectionately known as 'Lil Bae’, was born on Wednesday, October 12th, 1927, in St. John (Hertford County), North Carolina, to the late Starkie Walden, Sr. and Ola Mae Flood Walden. She peacefully entered eternal rest on Friday, January 9th, 2024, at her home in Rich Square, North Carolina and leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
Geneva received her education in the public schools of Northampton County and, at an early age, professed her faith in Christ, becoming a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Jackson, North Carolina. As life progressed she united in Christian Fellowship with Chapel Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Rich Square.
Known for her talents as a seamstress, cook, and sharp dresser, 'Lil Bae’ brought creativity and style to everything she touched. Before her illness, she found joy in tending to her flowers, sharing moments with her sisters, fondly known as "The Golden Girls," and reveling in the company of her family. As a devoted mother and grandmother, Geneva's love extended beyond her immediate family to her church community, where she actively participated in Sunday services, Bible studies, and musical programs.
Geneva was preceded in death by her husband, Cornealious Kee; her daughter, Eva Mae Walden Faust; her parents, Starkie Walden, Sr. and Ola Mae Flood Walden; two great-grandchildren, Damon Riddick and Khadijah Moody, and one great-great-grandchild, Blair Moody, as well as four sisters and six brothers.
She is fondly remembered by: her children, Ricky Walden of Greensboro, North Carolina, Patricia Walden Ellsworth (Rex, Sr.) of Franklin, Virginia, Shelia Renee Walden of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, Geneva Riddick-Faulkner (Shawn) of the home, Vickie Riddick of Raleigh, North Carolina and Felica Lewis (Tim) of Greensboro, North Carolina. Additionally, she is survived by one great-granddaughter, Tratesha ‘Tee-Tee’ Riddick of Greensboro, North Carolina, whom she reared with love and care; one sister, Eleanor Bragg (John) of Jackson, North Carolina; fourteen great-grandchildren; twenty great-great-grandchildren; one extended family member, Anthony Tyrone Moody of Seaboard, North Carolina; a devoted caregiver, Queen Lewis of Conway, North Carolina; a host of loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
In celebrating Geneva Walden Kee's life, we honor her warmth, strength, and the enduring impact she had on those fortunate enough to know her. May she rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love she so freely shared with the world.
