John Roberts Obituary

John Henry Roberts, born on April 18th, 1958, to the late James L. and Louise H. Roberts, transitioned from this earthly life on Thursday, February 15th, 2024, under the care of ECU Health in Greenville, North Carolina. His love for family was unconditional, and his dedicated efforts for our well-being will always be remembered.

Educated in the public schools of Northampton County, John embraced Christianity early in life, uniting in Christian Fellowship with the Evangelistic Church of Deliverance in Weldon, North Carolina.

Throughout his career, John worked diligently, and contributed his skills to Byrd’s Grocery, Lowes Grocery, Farm Fresh of Roanoke Rapids, StarValue of Emporia, Virginia, and Roanoke # 1 River Mill in Roanoke Rapids.  Lastly, he left a lasting impact at Lowe’s Distribution Center in Garysburg, North Carolina, from which he retired.

A warm and caring individual, John had a deep love for his family. He enjoyed action movies, NASCAR racing, and possessed a gift for sparking conversations with anyone, never meeting a stranger.

Preceding him in death are his beloved parents, two sisters - Lois V. Roberts and Josephine M. Boone - and five brothers - Robert L. Roberts, Roosevelt Roberts, Elmo Roberts, Russell T. Roberts and Willie Lee Roberts.

Cherishing the memories made together are his wife, Felicia Hairston Roberts, and their daughter, Malecia Johnae Roberts, both of the home. He is survived by siblings, James Paul Roberts (Marie) of Margarettsville, North Carolina, Euniceteen R. Johnson (Lawrence), Helena R. Parker of Chesapeake, Virginia, Linwood Roberts (Dorette) of Brooklyn, New York and Minnie P. Roberts of Norfolk, Virginia.

John will be remembered fondly by his mother-in-law, Lucy Hairston; father-in-law, Howard Hairston; grandmother-in-law, Betty Lee Jones Fleming; sister-in-law, Tammy Hedgepeth (Bobby); brother-in-law, Ron Hairston (Quinta); one aunt, Audie R. Boone; uncle, Charles L. Roberts, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

In celebrating the life of John Henry Roberts, we hold onto the love, memories, and the impact he made on our lives. May he rest in eternal peace.
