Linnie Mae Gorham Cooper, born on Wednesday, February 23rd, 1950, in Northampton County, North Carolina, she was the beloved daughter of the late Godfrey and Ruth Jones Gorham. She was the youngest of seven siblings. Linnie peacefully answered God's solemn call from earthly labor unto sweet eternal rest on Saturday, January 27th, 2024, while under the care of Staten Island Hospital in Staten Island, New York.
Linnie Cooper, a loving mother, wife, sister, grandmother, friend, and faithful woman of God, radiated love to everyone who knew her. Her presence could light up a room with a simple joke, and her warm embraces followed by sweet words of encouragement brought comfort to those around her. Known for her selflessness, she was a mother figure to many, always ready to help wherever needed. Linnie was a person you could rely on, and her commitment to God surpassed everything else in her life.
In 2006, Linnie united in Holy Matrimony to Jasper Cooper, Jr. Having worked and retired from Staten Island Development Center, Linnie served as a Therapeutic Aide from 1989 to 2009. As a member of Staten Island Prayer Band/St. Paul's Holiness Church, under the leadership of Vice Bishop Pastor Ralph Gorham, she enjoyed various aspects of life, including eating, praying, singing, family dinners and holidays, church activities, and most of all, praising God.
Now at peace in the loving arms of her Heavenly Father, Linnie was preceded in death by two grandsons, Robert Lewis Ussery III and Michael Alexandra Ussery; her brother, Rudolph Gorham and her sister, Rosa Lee Shearin.
Linnie leaves behind husband, Jasper Cooper, Jr.; her children, Emma Jean Salinsky, Robert Lewis Ussery Jr., and Linell Boone; two sisters, Ruth Eva Parker and Mary Francis Boone; two brothers, Minister James Gorham and Pastor Vice Bishop Ralph Gorham; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Grateful to be a part of something greater than herself, Linnie will be remembered for her joyful spirit and will continue to live on in our hearts. May she rest in eternal peace with our Father God.
