Marvin Graham Obituary

"I've done my work, I've sung my song.

I've done some good, I've done some wrong. Praise the Lord!

I fought the good fight, I finished my course, I kept the faith."

Marvin Lamont Graham, born on April 16th, 1964, in Bronx, New York, to surrogate mother Esther Overby, was embraced by the late Verdell R. Graham and Ozell Jones through adoption. Marvin's early education took place at PS 146 Elementary School in New York, and he proudly graduated from Hannah High School of Pamlico, South Carolina, as part of the Class of 1983. Following his high school journey, he attended Job Corp.

A devoted parishioner, Marvin actively participated in the life of Pee Dee Baptist Church in Pamlico, South Carolina, serving in various capacities, including the brotherhood organization, Usher's Ministry, Men's Choir, Kitchen Committee, and any other role where he was needed, all under the guidance of Pastor Jermaine Walker.

In July 2015, Marvin made his home in Conway, North Carolina, residing with the late sister, Cynthia Elaine Futrell. Embracing Christian Fellowship at Zoar Missionary Baptist Church in Pendleton, North Carolina, Marvin continued his mission for Christ. He was an active member of the Male Chorus and contributed to the Food Pantry and Nursing Home Ministry.

On Monday, February 12th, 2024, surrounded by the care of ECU Health Roanoke Chowan Hospital in Ahoskie, North Carolina, Marvin answered God's call from earthly labor unto eternal rest. He was preceded in death by his adopted parents, Verdell R. Graham and Ozell Jones, and one brother, John Robert Graham.

Cherishing the memories of his life, love, and legacy are his daughter, Bridgette Jackson; granddaughter, ZyFaria Bethea; grandson, Zyron Bethea, all of Florence, South Carolina; surrogate mother, Esther Overby of Manhattan, New York; brothers, Devon A. Futrell of North Carolina, Arnold and Richard Overby of Manhattan, New York, Joe and Tony Overby of Bronx, New York; sisters, Denise Thomas-LeTang (Terric) of Manhattan, New York, Victoria Overby of Yonkers, New York, Janet Overby, Debbie Sewell (Winston) of Bronx, New York, Bernadine Jordan of Conway, North Carolina and Bianca Jones of Virginia; one aunt, Margaret Lou Weekfall; uncle, Samuel Robinson; devoted friends, Arnold, Donna, Betty, Diane, Kathy, and Shae, all of South Carolina; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
