Dexter Britt, Sr. Obituary

“Upon life’s journey, we are given opportunities to plant seeds of goodness, seeds of kindness, and seeds

of blessings that bestow our hearts, our work, and our being. For those that sow the fields with loving

generosity, so shall they reap the abundant harvest of eternal life.”

Dexter DeJuan Britt, Sr., beloved son of Norma Vaughan and the late Alphonso Britt of Northampton County, North Carolina, was born on February 19th, 1967. He peacefully transitioned from this life on December 27th, 2025.

Dexter received his education through the Weldon City School System. Upon completing his schooling, he entered the workforce at JP Stevens. Later in life, Dexter found his calling as a truck driver with Van Cleef, where he was employed at the time of his passing. Driving trucks was more than a job to him—it was something he truly loved.

Dexter lived life with passion and authenticity. He found joy in spending time with his family and friends, hunting, fishing, working on cars, and lending a helping hand to anyone in need. Known as a natural jokester, Dexter had a special gift for making others laugh. He was honest to a fault, never afraid to speak his truth or offer advice—and just as quick to remind you with an “I told you so” if that advice went unheeded. Though stern at times, Dexter was also a good listener, deeply caring, and fiercely passionate. Those who truly knew him understood the depth of his heart, even when his intensity was misunderstood by others.

Dexter was preceded in death by his daughter, Tiffany Britt; his brother, Alphonso Britt Jr.; and his stepfather, Herbert Vaughan.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory his six children: Satoria Britt of Orlando, Florida; Kimberly Britt (Kenneth Ellis) of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina; Latrice Britt of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina; Sabrina Britt (Jackie Caudle) of Boykins, Virginia; Kayla Britt of the home in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina; and Dexter Britt Jr. of Emporia, Virginia.

He is also survived by his mother, Norma Vaughan; siblings: Shanda Britt (James Peebles) of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina; Antwione Britt of Orlando, Florida; Kimberly Britt of Portsmouth, Virginia; Eric Vaughan (Monica) of Franklin, Virginia; Anthony Britt of Maryland; and Paul Adams of Virginia. Dexter also leaves behind a host of grandchildren—six grandsons and one granddaughter—along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Also left to cherish his memory is his special partner, Andrell Pierce, whom he affectionately called “Peach.” In addition, Dexter was blessed with a close-knit group of special brothers and sisters who held a meaningful place in his life.

Dexter Dejuan Britt, Sr. will be remembered for his unwavering honesty, strength, humor, and the deep love he had for his family and friends. His presence will be truly missed, but his legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
