Paul Mason Obituary

Today, we pause with reverence and gratitude to honor and celebrate the life of Paul Mason—our beloved brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. Paul’s warm spirit, gentle heart, and charismatic presence left an indelible imprint on the lives of all who were blessed to know him.

Paul Mason was born on Wednesday, November 16th , 1955, in Halifax County, North Carolina, to the loving care of the late Thomas Mason and Nannie Florence Bowser Mason. Reared in a home firmly grounded in faith and love, Paul accepted Christ at an early age. He was baptized and united in Christian fellowship with Gaston Missionary Baptist Church, where he remained a member until his demise.

Paul received his education at Squire Elementary School in Gaston, North Carolina, and later attended Chaloner High School in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. For many years, he was gainfully employed by Bone’s Toyota and White Motors, both of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, where he worked diligently and faithfully until declining health brought his career to a close.

Paul peacefully departed this life on Friday, January 16th, 2026, while in the compassionate care of Signature Healthcare of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lois High Mason; a son-at-heart, Marvin High; his brothers, Franklin Mason, Marvin Mason, and Thomas Mason; and his sister, Marilyn Lee.

Though we are struck by the sorrow and pain of his passing, Paul’s treasured memories will forever remain etched in the hearts of those who loved him. Left to cherish his memory are his devoted sisters, Violet M. Bowser and Carolyn M. Banks (Jimmie); his caring brothers, Randolph Mason and Nathaniel Mason, all of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina; three sisters-in-law, Louise Mason of Gaston, North Carolina, Mary Mason of Emporia, Virginia, and Mary H. Mason of Henderson, North Carolina; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends who will forever honor his life and legacy.

Relatives and friends are warmly invited to visit Mr. Mason’s tribute wall,
