“Those we love remain with us, for love itself lives on, and cherished
memories never fade because a loved one’s gone. Those we love can never be
more than a thought apart. For as long as there is memory, Tony’s will live on
in our hearts.
Mr. Tony Donell Lashley, age 60, of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 22nd, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Tony will be remembered for his quiet strength, warm spirit, and the gentle presence that filled every room he entered.
Born on Monday, March 15th, 1965, in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, Tony spent his life between his beloved hometown and Miamisburg, Ohio, where he formed meaningful connections and countless lasting memories. He was educated in the Halifax County School System and graduated from Northwest High School in 1983. During his youth, Tony distinguished himself as a gifted athlete — a true triple threat — excelling in basketball, football, and baseball. His passion for sports continued into adulthood, where he remained active in local leagues, finding joy, purpose, and lifelong friendships in the games he loved.
Tony was a hardworking man with a heart for service. Over the years, he faithfully served the City of Roanoke Rapids, worked within the prison system, supervised for McDonald’s, and even drove school buses while still in high school — a testament to both his responsibility and determination. No matter the role, Tony led with integrity, reliability, and an unwavering work ethic that earned him respect from all who knew him.
A man of few words but immeasurable depth, Tony spoke with intention. When he chose to share his thoughts, they carried wisdom, humor, and truth. His laughter was warm and genuine, and his love for his family was steadfast. To know Tony was to know a man who expressed his care not through grand gestures, but through presence, consistency, and the quiet, steady ways he supported those around him.
Tony is preceded in death by his parents, Edna Hines Lashley and Julian Lashley; his son, Tony Lashley Jr.; his twin daughters, Kia and Tia Lashley; his brother, Larry “Dump” Lashley; and his sister, Linda Lashley.
He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Mrs. Carolyn Lashley, of the home; his daughter, Kiesha Faulkner (Branden); and four grandchildren who brought him immeasurable joy — Peyton, Kason, Khai’Dyn, and Parker. He is also survived by his siblings: Judy Whitaker (Matthew), Marilyn Moore (Willie), Calvin Lashley (Renee), and Debbie Jean Sledge; three brothers-in-law: Kenneth, Terry, and Charles Moody; along with a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.
To many, Tony was more than a relative or friend — he was a steady presence, a source of quiet guidance, and a man whose strength, loyalty, and humility left an enduring impact. His legacy of love, resilience, and unspoken wisdom will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
Tony will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
