“To everything there is a season, and to every purpose under the Heaven:
A time to be born and a time to die. A time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted.”
- Ecclesiastes 3:1-2
Today, we pause to honor and celebrate the life and legacy of Willie Rufus Rogers — a devoted and beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend whose presence enriched the lives of all who knew him.
Willie Rufus Rogers was born on Sunday, September 17th, 1950, in Northampton County, North Carolina, to the late Walter A. Rogers, Sr. and Elsie M. Stancell Rogers. From humble beginnings, Willie grew to embody the values of hard work, dedication, and love for family that would define his life.
He received his education in the public schools of Northampton County and later graduated from Job Corps in Minnesota, completing the HVAC program. Willie went on to pursue a career in the trucking industry, where he faithfully dedicated over 45 years of service. His strong work ethic and commitment to excellence earned him respect throughout his career.
Beyond his professional life, Willie was a man of deep love and devotion to his family. He cherished every moment spent with those he loved. He was also a car enthusiast and found great joy in hunting and fishing — passions that brought him peace and happiness.
On Monday, February 23rd, 2026, while under the compassionate care of ECU Medical Center in Greenville, North Carolina, Willie peacefully transitioned from this earthly life. His seeds were well sown, his earthly service complete, and he now rejoices in the victory and triumph of eternal life.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings: Walter and Elsie Rogers, Ardell Rogers, Mack Rogers, John Rogers, Jack Rogers, Rudolph Rogers, Charles Rogers, Frances Rogers, Sue Rogers, and Nellie Whitaker.
Left to cherish his precious memories are his loving and devoted wife, Ernestine Rogers of Pendleton, North Carolina; his children, Jeffrey of Chesapeake, Virginia, Latoya of Chesapeake, Virginia, and Emmanuel of Murfreesboro, North Carolina; his siblings, Calvin Rogers of Norfolk, Virginia, Minister Darlene Branch of Norfolk, Virginia, and Marie Rogers of Norfolk, Virginia; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, in-laws, and dear friends.
Though he is no longer with us in body, Willie’s legacy of love, strength, and dedication will forever remain in our hearts.
Relatives and Friends are encouraged to visit Mr. Rogers' tribute wall to share memories, extend condolences and to order floral tributes, as sentiments to the family.
